A tier based leveling system adds significant replay value to the campaign missions. I was incredibly happy when I came across Deadhold last year as it reminded me a lot of those classic days. I signed up for the Alpha and played when it was being developed on the previous engine. Very impressed how far this game has come since then! Excited to see how the game develops and to see the player base grow :). Game has been dead since the summer. Save your money until the devs become active again. It's sad to see this happen but Myth still exists and people play, I recommend that for now still.. Deadhold is a fun spiritual successor to the Myth series. With updated controls (minus the camera controls, which feel slightly stiffer than Myth's) and graphics, I hope the devs are able to finish the game.However, I can't recommend this game at the current twenty dollar price point. Content is extremely lacking, even for an Early Access title, and the devs are currently over a month past their first promised content drop.. Dead game don't buy.. Only just getting to grips with this game - and I must say - the combat mechanics, voice acting and gameplay are all very fluid. This could be a complete gem ifthe devs keep adding to it. Plenty of gameplay to start with (even for an Early Access Title) and the balance in units appears great! Take the tactical gameplay from Myth and add a few sparkles of customizable triggered and\/or passive abilities to your squad and you get Deadhold.Myth being an all time favorite, I was crossing my fingers - hoping that they wouldn't go too much Dota on the gameplay, and they didn't. There is a layer of random item drops, and specializing your setup with abilities, but it just adds a little distinction to your units. Think of it as choosing a commander in Compay of Heroes and you get a similar impact here. The game is still all about out smarting your opponents with positioning and timing.This game has the potential to become a great thief of time in my already busy schedule. I do indeed recommend this game to anyone finding this gem on steam.. Devs have halted production and will discontinue servers in three months. Do not buy.
